Sponsors sought for cathedral’s sun installation
Derby Cathedral is inviting businesses to back a major art installation, which is set to help mark its centenary.
Helios, a seven-metre model of the sun by artist Luke Jerram, is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors when it arrives at the cathedral from 20 to 31 October.
The installation will mark the start of a year of celebrations leading up to the cathedral’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

It is now looking for local businesses to get behind the event, with sponsorship packages available from £100 through to main sponsorship opportunities.
Sponsors will receive a range of benefits depending on the package they choose, including branding across event marketing, opportunities to feature within the exhibition itself and invitations to an exclusive launch event.
Tom Wyke, head of fundraising at Derby Cathedral, said: “We’ve already seen a real buzz around the announcement that Helios is coming to Derby, and now we’re looking for businesses to be part of it.
“This is an opportunity to support something that will bring people into the city, encourage families and schools to visit the cathedral and kick off our centenary celebrations in a really memorable way.”
