Entries are now being accepted for the newly launched Visit East Midlands Tourism Awards, which celebrate excellence across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire’s visitor economy.

Tourism and hospitality businesses can enter through one of two destination award programmes delivered by the East Midlands’ two VisitEngland-accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs).

Businesses from across accommodation, attractions, food and drink, accessible tourism, business events, experiences and hospitality sectors are encouraged to apply, with eligible winners from each local awards programme progressing to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Stella Birks, visitor economy development manager at Visit Derby, said: “It is great to see Visit East Midlands picking up the baton to celebrate excellence through the newly launched tourism awards.

“This is a great opportunity for some of our fabulous passionate and creative local businesses to be recognised for the amazing experiences they provide, and which contribute to the regional visitor offer. It would be great to see lots of Derby businesses taking part.”

Jo Dilley, managing director of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, said: “Our visitor economy is home to world-class accommodation providers, attractions, restaurants, experiences and tourism professionals.

“These awards are an opportunity to showcase that excellence, celebrate achievement and inspire businesses to continue raising standards for visitors.”

Applications close on Sunday 26 July. For further information on categories, eligibility criteria and how to enter click here.
