Law firm gets on the case with children’s book appeal donations
Derby City Lab took in a record number of children’s books during Derby Book Festival’s recent annual book drop – thanks in no small part to the generosity of law firm Rothera Bray and Derby Cathedral School.
Held during the festival’s recent summer edition, which took place last month, the appeal called on people to donate unwanted pre-loved children’s books at various donation points around the city.
They are then redistributed to local youngsters who do not have access to their own books.
As with previous appeals, the lab, which is situated inside Derby Market Hall, acted as a donation point.
This time, it received over 200 books – the majority of which came from staff at Rothera Bray’s Derby office.
They filled up two suitcases full of books and wheeled them down to the lab.

Posting on LinkedIn, Rachel Mills, an employment law specialist based at Rothera Bray’s Derby office, said: “A big thank you to all my colleagues at Rothera Bray for the donations, for this initiative by Derby Book Festival, which we fully support – and Derby City Lab for being one of the many places accepting donations, which made it easy for us to drop them off.
“Some definite favourites of mine were in this collection – and we hope these can be enjoyed by many more children in this lovely city.”
Adam Rodgers, inward investment executive at Marketing Derby and Derby City Lab lead, said: “Derby City Lab was once again delighted to act as a donation point for the latest book drop.
“This time we collected over 200 books – a record for the city lab – thanks in no small part to the incredible generosity of Rothera Bray and Derby Cathedral School.”
