New traders market to showcase young entrepreneurs
Derby City Council’s Derby Market Hall is set to open its doors to the next generation of business owners when it hosts the city’s first ever Young Traders Market.
The event, which is due to take place on Saturday 30 May, is part of a nationwide campaign by the National Market Traders Federation and is all about giving young people the chance to step into a real-world market environment.

It is designed for young entrepreneurs aged 16 to 30, providing them with a platform to showcase their products, connect with customers face-to-face and develop valuable business skills in a supportive market environment.
It is also more than just a market day – it is a competition aimed at finding the best new talent in the industry.
Local judges will be on the lookout for standout stalls, with winning traders moving on to the East Midlands regional final at Harborough Market.
Councillor Nadine Peatfield, city council leader and cabinet member for city centre, regeneration, strategy and policy, said: “The heart of the Young Traders Market campaign is about building confidence and making sure the future of our local markets is bright and full of energy.
“We’re passionate about supporting independent, local traders at Derby Market Hall and we can’t wait to see the energy and innovation our young traders bring.”
