Derbyshire County Cricket Club has recorded its 12th surplus in 13 years, while continuing to invest in its staff and facilities.

As a result of increased income levels for the year ending 31 December, the club has announced a pre-tax surplus of £102,000.

The financial performance has been achieved against a backdrop of record investment into the Men’s and Women’s cricket budgets, while also improving spectator facilities at The Central Co-op County Ground.

In 2025, commercial income from sponsorship and hospitality grew significantly versus 2024 and the club saw an increase in attendance at Vitality Blast matches as ticket revenue increased.

The club’s conference and events arm of the business continued to grow last year on the back of successful events, such as the annual Fireworks Night & Fun Fair, as well as a new Drone Show.

Ian Morgan OBE, the club’s chair from 2017 to 2026, who has since made way for his replacement Ian McFarlane, said: “It is with great pride that we can announce a 12th surplus in 13 years and a testament to the hard work of everyone associated with the club.

“In very tough trading circumstances, brought about by the cost-of-living crisis and the damaging impact of the Government’s tax raising budgets, we achieved a surplus before tax, a result several clubs will envy.”

Chief executive Ryan Duckett said: “2025 was another busy year for everyone associated with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

“It will no doubt also prove to be a significant year in the history of the game in this country with the completion of deals that saw the first wave of private investment into The Hundred and the launch of the ECB’s new domestic structure for Women’s Cricket.

“On behalf of the board and the off-field team, I would like to thank our sponsors, members and all visitors to both cricket and non-cricket events for their continued support.”
