Derby City Council has received national recognition for its pioneering approach to Artificial Intelligence.

The council recently secured the Gold Award for AI in Public Services and a Bronze Award for Best Transformation Team at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards.

The awards celebrate the most innovative digital solutions and ground-breaking initiatives driving positive change for UK communities.

In partnership with http://ICS.AI , Derby has introduced the UK’s first unified AI operating model for local government.

The system helps with everything from answering resident questions quickly to helping staff get through their daily tasks faster.

Councillor Hardyal Dhindsa, cabinet member for digital and organisational transformation, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive these national awards, which recognise the hard work of our teams and our commitment to modernising how we serve our citizens.

“By embracing AI ethically and strategically, we aren’t just saving money – we are making our services more accessible and allowing our staff to focus their expertise where it’s needed most: on complex, human-centred support.”
