College champions apprenticeships for National Apprenticeship Week
Derby College Group has been marking National Apprenticeship Week with a packed programme of events.
All this week, the college has been showcasing apprenticeships, shining a spotlight on how apprenticeships build real skills, unlock opportunity and support economic growth:
It has been holding a busy programme of events, employer engagement and student celebrations, aligning directly with new government reforms designed to fast-track apprenticeships and strengthen Britain’s key growth sectors.

On Monday, it launched a series of Apprenticeship Recruitment & Careers Pop-Up events, alongside student project showcases.
On Tuesday, it held employer insight events, which gave students direct access to industry experts and career pathways.
This included a Women in Engineering event, which brought together students, professionals and employers for a day of inspiring talks, networking opportunities and career insight.
Yesterday, it staged apprentice-focused activities, including degree apprenticeship fairs.
Today, it stages T Level Thursday and The Roundhouse Open Evening, open to students, parents and the public.
And tomorrow, it will stage a celebration of apprentice talent, achievement and success.
Former apprentice Faiza Saghir said: “My apprenticeship gave me confidence, real industry experience and a clear career path.
“You’re earning, learning and building skills that employers genuinely value, it’s opened doors I never thought possible.”
Engineering apprentice Jensen Stanley said: “The hands-on experience and support from both my employer and Derby College Group helped me progress faster than I expected.
“Apprenticeships prepare you for real jobs, not just exams.”
