A former manufacturing site has new owners following the recent completion of a sale facilitated by Salloway Property Consultants.

However, the deal for the former Belfield Furnishing site, in Furnace Road, Ilkeston, was far from straightforward as the transaction was conditional upon the demolition of an 98,000 sq ft two storey factory premises

Constructed in the 1950s/60s, this specialist building was once used by Cadbury’s Biscuits and was built to last – consisting of fortified concrete pillars and floors, which meant that despite a sale being agreed in October completion has only just taken place.

Chris Keogh, of Salloway Property Consultants, and Alex Reid, of Mather Jamie, acted on behalf of the sellers as joint marketing agents.

Chris said: “It’s fair to say that this property has never been short of interest.

“However, the unconventional layout of the main building has always meant that the focus of the majority of the enquiries received were heavily centred around the land itself.

“The site is broadly 4.71 acres and although the main building has been demolished there are still two smaller units, which have been retained by new owners, who intend to occupy the majority of the site for their own use.”
