Bondholders win with Chamber

Several Bondholders were amongst the winners at the 2019 awards night of fellow Bondholder East Midlands Chamber on Friday.

The awards are amongst the largest and most prestigious in the region, bringing together businesses from across Derbyshire to celebrate and promote the outstanding work undertaken by our business community.

Our Bondholders made us proud being shortlisted for many of the awards. Bondholder winners at the gala dinner held at Pride Park Stadium were: Bloc Digital; RDS Global; The Roundhouse; and Sky Recruitment Solutions.

Bondholder Bloc Digital took home the coveted Business of the Year award, but, ever the professionals, the team celebrated by heading back to the office to hit a deadline!

Business Awards finalists announced

Bondholder East Midlands Chamber has announced the finalists for the Derbyshire Business Awards 2019 - we're pleased to see so many of our Bondholders are finalists.

The Derbyshire Business Awards bring together businesses from across the region and beyond to promote the outstanding work which Derbyshire businesses undertake every day.

The 2019 Derbyshire Business Awards Gala Dinner will take place on the 6th September at Pride Park Stadium.

There will be 13 awards presented across a range of categories, as well as the prestigious Business of the Year award. Winners of selected categories from the evening could go on to compete in the national British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) awards which take place in November.

In the sports day spirit

Twenty teams from businesses across the city will take part in the third annual Derby Business Games this Thursday.

The popular event is organised by Derby-based Choose Sports and the headline sponsors are Bondholder Timms Solicitors with additional support from the fellow Bondholders the University of Derby, BEAR and DNS.

Teams of eight will compete in a wide range of competitions based on the traditional schools sports day from rounders and netball to sack and wheelbarrow races. The afternoon finishes with relays and a tug of war finale before trophies and medals are presented.

Timms Managing Partner Fiona Moffat said: “The two previous Derby Business Games have been hugely successful afternoons and we are delighted with the great response from companies who want to take part this year."

“Everybody enters into the friendly but competitive spirit it is always great to see so many people recapture their youth and hark back to their school sports day.”

In last summer’s event, Bondholders reigned supreme: FHP Consulting retained the rounders trophy as well as winning the three-legged and wheelbarrow races, Smith Cooper won the netball, HUUB won the sack race, the egg and spoon title was clinched by DNS and Cain Henry from HUUB won the welly wanging competition. Who will scoop the prizes this year?!

Timms Solicitors marketing investment rewarded

Bondholder Timms Solicitors has been highly commended in a national award scheme for the quality of its marketing, social media and website.

Timms, which has offices in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, Burton, Ashby and Swadlincote, and has been established for more than 125 years, were shortlisted for the LFS (Law Firm Services) Conveyancing Awards – regarded as the most prestigious in the profession.

The communications strategy development has been led by Timms’ Marketing Manager Sharon Jeffery working alongside Derby-based marketing experts including Greendog Media, Cactus Images, threeguru and JJPR.

A new dynamic mobile-friendly website has been launched which includes a blog, updates in the legal marketplace and a specially-designed conveyancing fee calculator to provide instant quotations.

The firm has also developed a proactive online communications platform to better communicate with current and prospective clients and with fellow professionals.

Managing Partner, Fiona Moffat, who attended the Birmingham awards ceremony with colleagues, said: “This has been a huge team effort and I’m really delighted that the hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way.”

Timms Solicitors announce Partner appointments

Three new Partners have been announced by Bondholder Timms Solicitors, the long-established firm which has offices in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter.

Lisa Collett, Tessa Dunleavy and Matt Rice have joined the firm’s existing partners Fiona Moffat and Jason Burnett.

Lisa Collett is Head of Residential Conveyancing at Timms.  She joined the firm in February 2016 and has more than ten years’ experience in Residential Conveyancing.

Tessa Dunleavy joined Timms’ Childcare team in January 2018 having worked in Derby and Derbyshire for the past 18 years. She is a member of the Law Society's Children Panel and the Local Family Justice Board in Derby.

And Commercial Property solicitor Matt Rice joined the firm 2015, having previously worked in Leicester and Northampton.

Managing Partner Fiona Moffat said: “Lisa, Tessa and Matt have all contributed greatly to the expansion and continued strength of the firm and I am delighted that they join Jason and I as partners to take Timms to the next stage of our development.”

Derby Business Games Return

Bondholder HUUB have organised the return of The Derby Business Games to be held at Bondholder the University of Derby on the 14th June.

A maximum of 32 teams of 8 can enter this "grown up" version of a school sports day, which sees businesses compete in games such as rounders, dodgeball, and wheelbarrow races. Food, drink and entertainment will be available for spectators. 

Claire Duffin, Huub organiser, said: "The first Derby Business Games were such a huge success that we are already getting calls from companies wanting to reserve a place in the 2018 re-match."

The events sponsor will once again be Bondholder Timms Solicitors. Fiona Moffat, Managing Partner, said: " Derby Business Games was so much fun that we were keen to work with HUUB to bring the event back for summer.

"Everybody entered into the friendly but competitive spirit at last summer's event and it was great to see so many people recapture their youth and hark back to their school sports day."

Derby Business Games Returns

Applications have opened early for the second annual Derby Business Games due to the resounding success of the inaugural event.

The Derby Business Games will be held on June 14 2018 at Bondholder the University of Derby and is organised by fellow Bondholders HUUB and Timms Solicitors.

A maximum 32 teams of eight can enter.

Teams compete in a wide range of competitions from rounders and dodgeball, to egg and wheelbarrow races. The afternoon finishes with relays and a tug of war finale, before trophies and medals are presented.

One of the main winners at the first event this summer was Bondholder FHP, who won the rounders, sack race and wheelbarrow events.  

HUUB Events organiser Claire Duffin said: “The first Derby Business Games were such a huge success that we are already getting calls from companies wanting to reserve a place in the 2018 re-match.

“Teams will be entered on a first-come, first-serve basis so I would urge colleagues to get the date in their diary now and put their names down early to avoid disappointment.”

Twenty four teams of eight people from a number of local companies and organisations will be vying for medals and trophies in a series of sports from dodgeball to ‘welly wanging’ in the first ever Derby Business Games this Thursday. 

The event – designed to be the grown up version of the traditional school sports day – has been organised by Bondholder HUUB and sponsored by fellow Bondholder Timms Solicitors.

It is being hosted by Bondholder the University of Derby at the Sports Centre in Kedleston Road where the action will start at 4.30pm with rounders and dodgeball tournaments.

HUUB Events Race Director Claire Duffin explained: “A lot of Derby businesses support and enter teams in our other major events in the city including the Cycle Derby Sportives and the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon and we were keen to organise an event specifically for local companies and organisations to compete against each other.

“The look and feel of this event will be like the old-school sports day with a series of sporting challenges that will have something for everyone.

“We want this to be a fun and relaxed family day with plenty of friendly competitive spirit – cheered on by family, friends and colleagues.”

The Derby Business Games

Launched at a recent Bondholder event at The Roundhouse, the first-ever Derby Business Games event will be held at the University of Derby Sports Centre in Kedleston Road on Thursday July 6 between 4pm and 6pm.

The brainchild of Bondholder HUUB, local companies and organisations are being invited to recapture their childhoods and compete in a series of fun sporting challenges based on the traditional school sports day.

Teams of eight will compete in the rounders, dodgeball and touch rugby tournaments. Individuals and pairs will go head to head in mini events from wheelbarrow races to the firm favourite – egg and spoon. The afternoon will then finish with relays and a tug of war finale before crowning the team with the points accrued.

Derby Business Games has been sponsored by fellow Bondholder Timms Solicitors.
