The Birchover Residences

New Executive City Hotel

Bondholder Birchover Residences has announced that it will be opening a luxury apartment-hotel in south Derby at Merrill Way.

The development will be built on land at the junction with the A514 Chellaston Road that was formerly occupied by the old community police station, which has since been demolished.

The apartment-hotel is aimed at executives from fellow Bondholder Rolls-Royce

Kieran Howell, Birchover Managing Director, said: “We have a long-standing fantastic relationship with Rolls Royce and their supply chain. Their guests love to stay with us even though some of our other Derby apartment-hotels are in the city centre and the northern side of Derby.

Fellow Bondholder Latham Architects have been commissioned to design the construction drawing package.

The development will comprise 9 one bedroom and 3 two bedroom apartments with a staff and laundry room as part of the scheme.

Kieran Howell concludes “Merrill Way is a perfect fit for us. It demonstrates our commitment to growing our footprint in Derby and will be a key platform for our growth strategy in the next few years across the East Midlands”.

New Apartment-Hotels for Birchover

The Birchover Residences have opened a string of new apartment-hotels in Derby.

The newest property opened in March 2017. Birchover Friar Gate is located just north of the iconic Friar Gate Bridge at 64 Friar Gate and comprises 11 one and two bedroom apartments.

Birchover have also opened apartment-hotels in central Derby at 7 Friar Gate (with the only four bedroom apartments available for corporate stays in the city), Liversage House on Nottingham Road and at Dalby House just off Ashbourne Road.

Husband and wife team Carl and Lisa Bridge own the business and Carl says “Birchover has been operating in Derby for 20 years and we are proud to have opened so many new properties in recent months.

"It is a show of our commitment to Derby and is made possible by the wonderful experiences that our staff provide for guests and the growing number of clients we have. We will be opening more apartment-hotels in the city in the next twelve months to cope with the rapid growth in demand for business guest stays”.

City's Most Expensive Apartment has Been Let

Within 48 hours of coming onto the market, and after more than half-a-dozen viewings, Derby's most expensive apartment has been let.

Sister company of Bondholder  The Birchover Residences, Birchover Sales and Lettings have let a penthouse on the corner of the Cornmarket and St James' Street for an excess of £2,000 per month.

The apartment comes fully-furnished with two bedrooms, a family bathroom and an open-plan living area with kitchen, lounge and 70" TV. The piece de resistance of the apartment is its 13ft x 8ft resistance swimming pool, with jets that you can swim against.

The letting of the apartment marks the latest wave of city living in Derby. Phase 1 of Compendium Living's Castleward Urban Village has been of equal success, with their four new luxury city centre penthouse apartments set to continue that momentum.  Combined with Radleigh Homes' latest development, Weaver's Point, city living in Derby is taking off.

Lauren relocates to Portixol

Bondholder Portixol Relocations — which specialises in home-finding and relocation services to companies and individuals across the country — has appointed Lauren Docksey as its new Business Relationship Manager.

We’ve known Lauren for a while and I have always been impressed with her professional, calm and personable manner.
— Carl Bridge, owner of Portixol Relocations

In recent months, the firm has attracted new clients in Cheshire, Wiltshire, East Anglia and the East and West Midlands — as well as from Derby itself. The growth has been overseen by Managing Director Mark Averill, who himself joined the business in May 2015. Mark said: "We have received glowing recommendations from companies including Derby-based Ford and Stanley and this has given other businesses the confidence to work with us. By finding new employees a home and helping them quickly settle into the area, they hit the ground running in their new job straight away. Employers have found a winning formula when we work closely with their recruitment teams and Lauren's remit will be to enhance this benefit for employers."

Lauren was previously the wedding and events co-ordinator at a local employer and Carl Bridge — owner of Portixol Relocations — is ebullient about the new recruit: "We've known Lauren for a while and I have always been impressed with her professional, calm and personable manner. Lauren is tailor-made for this role and I've been hugely impressed during the two relocations that we worked together on in Milton Keynes last week. Our sister company The Birchover Residences will also benefit from Lauren's experience when we open our apartment-hotel at the Bridgford Hall wedding venue next Spring."
