City on the Up

Derby has been featured in Natwest’s national “Exciting Cities” series, with input from several
Bondholders.

The series looks at cities across the UK that are in high growth with a thriving business community. With a focus on a strong business culture for start-ups, the research has praised the work of Bondholder University of Derby for their incubation spaces, with a particular focus on Banks Mill.

The health of the economy is mentioned with the recent research conducted by Irwin Mitchell a key point, noting that Derby is the fastest-growing city economy in the region, with GVA increasing by 15.1%, and job creation by 1.1%.

David Torrington, Managing Director of Bondholder Sky Recruitment Solutions, is quoted as saying: “The transport links are good and that matters. I like that Derby has a certain intimacy because of its size. The relationships you can form in the city are strong and lasting and not just purely commercial.”

Maria Hanson MBE, founder of Mee & Dee said the business community mentioned low rents and supportive businesses such as Bondholders Franklands Insurance and Sellick Partnership.

She said, “We’re also a member of Marketing Derby, which is a thriving hub, and are plugged into [Bondholder] Connect Derby too, which provides connectivity and facilities for small business and not-for- profits like us.”

Sellick's Football Tournament to Return

Bondholder Sellick Partnership’s Midlands Football Tournament is returning in November for the seventh year running. Businesses from across the Midlands will be participating in the one day tournament that will once again be raising funds for fellow Bondholder local charity me&dee.

Nikki Kinsey, Associate Director of Sellick Partnership, established the tournament to create a networking platform for Midlands business professionals and to raise funds for charity. Thousands of pounds has been raised for various charities since the tournament began.

me&dee is an award-winning Midlands based charity that organises holidays and trips away for individuals with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses. The charity was formed to create special moments and memories to ensure both children and adults share distinctive experiences when time is precious.

The tournament will once again be played at Powerleague, Derwent Parade in Derby on Friday 24 November 2017. The one day tournament will commence with a group stage, with subsequent knockout stages to battle it out on the pitch for the Cup and Plate titles.

Nikki Kinsey commented, “I am extremely excited about the seventh Midlands Football Tournament taking place later this year. Many of our valued clients are participating and we have some fantastic new teams on board this year too. The tournament is a great opportunity to meet new people, establish and build relationships across the Midlands, as well as raising vital funds for a very worthy cause.”

Sellick Set for Growth

Bondholder Sellick Partnership is strengthening its Commerce & Industry (C&I) offering after reporting a record year of growth.

Recruitment Consultant, Laura Dolman has joined the business and will be recruiting professionals within finance organisations across the Midlands.

Laura will be specialising in the provision of financial and accountancy professionals within the commerce & industry and private sectors throughout Derbyshire and surrounding areas. She will be focussed on supporting a wide range of businesses with permanent and temporary solutions.

Last week Sellick Partnership released their 2016/17 financial results, reporting that all business areas are exceeding expectations. Audited accounts show that turnover grew by 10 percent to £38.8 million, with net fee income also growing by 6 percent to an impressive £5.8 million, both at their highest since the company’s formation 15 years ago.

This news comes as the business celebrates its 15th year in business this year.

Nikki Kinsey, Associate Director commented on the recent success: “I am thrilled that the Sellick Partnership Midlands division is still exceeding expectations, and we are delighted to welcome Laura to the team here in Derby.

“I hope that our current growth will enable us to work in partnership with more businesses across the region. I have an excellent team working across various divisions including Finance, Housing & Property Services, Change & Transformation and Procurement, and I am looking forward to strengthening our offering over the next twelve months.”
