Derby 10K set to Return

Derby’s largest running event is back for 2018, its 18th year, with the date for the race being announced as 15th April next year by Bondholder Sporting Futures.

The race attracts upwards of 5000 entries for the main race and fun run every year, and it kicks off fellow Bondholder RunDerby’s calendar each year.

Next year’s race will follow the same format as this year’s, with individuals, business teams and families alike being invited to take part in the bustling event.

The Bondholder League was introduced for the first time this year, with Toyota beating off stiff competition to take the Marketing Derby crown. The league will be back for 2018, with free spaces up for grabs for the top bondholder, as we see if Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK can defend their title. Points are awarded for number of colleagues racing, the times they finish in and also for volunteering at the event.

Emma Pilgrim, Events Manager at Sporting Futures, said, “the Derby 10K is a great event for local runners, those who want a challenge or to try something new, and teams and families. The 3K provides a fun distance for youngsters while the 10K provides a flat, fast route for seasoned runners or for those who want to run in their first race.

“We’ll be working to provide Couch to 10K plans as we did this year too, to ensure that the race is achievable for everyone who wants to take part.”

Bondholders set to Fundraise at Ramathon

A number of Bondholders are set to compete in this year's Ramathon, organised by Bondholder RunDerby, to help fundraise for fellow Bondholder Safe and Sound.

Bondholders in the Safe and Sound team include Nathalie Walters, Chief Executive of Safe and Sound; Anthony Lomas, Partner at BB&J; Claire Tonks, Partner at Flint Bishop LLP; and Sean Price, Director at RDS Global.

When asked why she was fundraising for Safe and Sound, Claire Tonks said: “I have decided to run my first half marathon, (much to the surprise of my three boys – “you’re quite old mum to run that far.”) to help raise funds and awareness for Safe & Sound.

"Having a teenager myself and working with schools and colleges, it is impossible not to be aware of the dangers to our children in the digital world. Safe and Sound is a fantastic, local charity providing specialist support to children and young people affected by sexual exploitation.

The race is also sponsored by fellow Bondholder Dains

Students Support Ramathon

Students from Bondholder Derby College will be turning out in force to support the Ramathon, organised by fellow Bondholder RunDerby

Around 100 students will be supporting the annual Derby half marathon, business team run and mini Ramathon fun run which will be held in June.

Derby College Assessor Ed Watkins explained: “We have been involved in this and many other annual events for several years and it is part of an ongoing programme of work experience for the students.

“Many of our students are planning careers in the public services including the Army and Police and in the security industry so the problem solving skills that they have gained will be invaluable in their future careers.

Ramathon Race Director Richard Kay said: "We have a fantastic relationship with Derby College and are very grateful for their support again this year.

"The students' role on the day is invaluable - ensuring that the runners have safe passage around the route and that the thousands of spectators are able to enjoy the action and cheer on their family and friends."

Ramathon Returns to iPro

Entries for Ramathon 2017 are now open. Organised by Bondholder RunDerby, the Ramathon is returning to the city of Derby for a fourth year and will again be based at the iPro Stadium

At 2016’s Ramathon, Lindsy James set a new world record as fastest female to complete a half marathon pushing a baby in a pram. This year, RunDerby are hoping to smash even more records.

Race Director, Richard Kay said, “After just three years, Ramathon has firmly established itself as one of the leading regional running events. It is fantastic to be back at the iPro Stadium for 2017 and we’re thrilled to have the support of Derby County Football Club again for the fourth Derby Ramathon.”

Bondholder Derby County Football Club will be official race partner for a third year.

Faye Nixon, Marketing Manager at Derby County Football Club said, “We’re thrilled that the Ramathon runners will be returning to the iPro Stadium in 2017, we’re sure it will be another fantastic day for all involved”.
