Lego lands well

Bondholder MX Display has teamed-up with fellow Bondholder Derby Museums on its latest exhibition “Brick History: A World of LEGO Awaits."

Custom graphics, signage and portable displays are helping bring things to life at the exhibition which opened to the public at Derby Museum and Art Gallery on Friday 24 May and runs to Sunday 8 September, guiding visitors through colourful recreations of famous people and events, which have taken place throughout history, and is all brilliantly done using just Lego bricks.

MX Display has produced and installed a number of striking visuals, including a giant Jurassic wall mural in the children’s activity area, a cut-out rocket and astronaut, as well as a bespoke mirror frame and exhibition signage.

David Lister, MX Sales Director, said: “We worked with Derby Museums last year on their Wild exhibition and were thrilled to be asked to support again this year. Our studio and installation teams have had lots of fun with this project, and it’s great to be part of something in the heart of the city that visitors from across the UK can come and enjoy throughout the summer.”

Janine Derbyshire, Head of Visitor Experience at Derby Museums Trust, said: “MX Display have been so generous, going way above and beyond to support our latest exhibition.

Everything MX have produced and installed is of such high quality and their teams have been so professional from the outset – the giant dinosaur wall graphic is just brilliant and is already proving a big hit in the activity area!”

Details of the free exhibition can be found on Derby Museum’s website.

Walk on the Wildside

Bondholder MX Display is delighted to be supporting this year’s Wildside Festival with a range of eco-friendly wayfinding and signage.

The Festival offers a full day of live music, art, wild activities, and food and drink on Saturday 15 June 201 at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust's Woodside Farm, Shipley, – all in support of local wildlife.

David Lister, MX Sales Director, said: “We approached Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to see how we could get involved with this year’s Wildside Festival, as it brings something unique and exciting to the local area – and all for such an important cause."

"After discussing the plans for the day, and how we might be able to support the Trust’s wider vision, we knew that our range of eco-friendly and sustainable signage and wayfinding products would offer an ideal solution for the festival.”

"With social accountability and sustainability high on the MX agenda, and as part of our ongoing commitment to CSR, we’re always seeking out and testing new technologies and techniques to help reduce our impact on the environment."

MX Display 'Triumph' at Awards

Bondholder MX Display has won the ‘Wide and Superwide format’ category at the Print, Design and Marketing Awards for its fantastic work on the Triumph Visitor Centre based in the East Midlands.

The Award was for its work on the new visitors’ centre at Triumph. Based at the brand’s headquarters and UK manufacturing facilities in Hinckley, Leicestershire, the centre is free to visit and showcases an exclusive collection of never-before-seen exhibits centred around the design, engineering and manufacture of Triumph’s most iconic models.

This huge, high-profile project MX Display worked closely with designers and build experts to deliver this incredibly impressive space. The complex project required a wide range of printed substrates and bespoke materials.

It included routered clear acrylic, direct printing to specialist silver wallpaper, white ink to aluminium sheets, cad-cut vinyl graphics, print direct to backlit opal acrylic, optically clear window films, our one-piece wallpaper solution called One Wall, tensioned fabric and bespoke brushed steel lettering.

David Lister, Sales Director of MX Display said “We’re delighted to have won this prestigious award, which recognises the very best in the design and print industry. Such a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to deliver a project like this and it’s fantastic for the whole team to get this recognition.

"It’s been a great year for awards so far, having already scooped a couple of Lux Awards and a UK Enterprise Award, and now adding the Print, Design & Marketing Award to our trophy cabinet.”

MX Display scoop two prestigious design industry awards

Bondholder MX Display has scooped two prestigious design industry awards for the work that was done during a major refurbishment project at The Mall retail complex, in Luton.

The Derby-based firm won two honours at industry bible Lux’s 2018 Designer Awards, which aim to recognise and celebrate the innovation, imagination and creative flair of agencies across the UK.

Lux is published quarterly and covers all aspects of high-end lifestyle, including the finest, food and drink, hotels and resorts, health and beauty, automotive, jewellery, art and technology. It includes everything from product news and reviews, to in-depth news, features and comment.

Working alongside design partner Simon Inc., MX Display was named the UK’s Best Printed Graphics Designer and also took home the award for the Most Innovative Commercial Signage Project.

David Lister, MX Display’s Sales Director, said: “We are delighted to have won these awards. It’s always great to receive recognition for our work, particularly from our industry peers, as it validates our creativity and highlights what we can do to help make our clients’ big ideas a reality.”

Nathan Angell, Awards Coordinator, said: “These awards are not concerned with the size of the business, rather with the drive and dedication to their work and their clients. We have scoured the design market in search of the very best and are proud to showcase their success in this prestigious awards programme. Congratulations to the winners, I am truly proud of your success.”

MX's London Display

Bondholder MX Display was selected by City Hall in London to print and install a huge Photo Floor graphic, as part of a project by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

The Mayor of London hosted an event for school children to raise awareness of air pollution. As part of the event, MX Display created a 10m by 15m metre map showing pollution levels in London.

The interactive floor graphic really helped the children learn about pollution levels in different areas of the city.

Kate Findlay, a representative from the City Hall, said: "The event went well and everyone was very impressed with the map – including the Mayor."

MX's Law of Design

Bondholder MX Display has worked in conjunction with fellow Bondholder the University of Derby by designing and installing high-quality printed graphics and signage in the new Law School.

Earlier this year Derby Law School invited MX Display to design a range of wall graphics for their brand new building in the heart of the city.

MX took inspiration from English law history, with the Great Charter; Magna Carta used as boardroom wallpaper. The use of this famous text reflects the building’s historical location and connects with the Law School’s primary function.

A Spokesperson for MX said: 'It was a great project to be involved with, allowing the building to keep its branding within its learning spaces, which we are sure has inspired the students of the Law School."
