Essential Print Services

Essential Expansion

Bondholder Essential Print Services is celebrating this month with record-breaking sales, and a recent move to new premises.

Yvonne Gorman, Owner and Print Evangelist, said: “Our order book and customer base is continually growing because even in challenging economic times, reliability and high standards of service are still in big demand. It’s vital that businesses make the most out of every piece of marketing material they produce, so that they can stand out from the crowd. That’s where we come in.

“Printing has always been my passion – my dad was in the print business for 37 years. After launching Essential Print Services in 2011, I quickly proved that there was a need for expert advice, great customer service and quality printing at a competitive price.

“I believe we succeed because we go the extra mile to supply smarter, better, fresher print. I get a real kick out of helping businesses spend their budget wisely and market themselves effectively. It’s also been great to win the chance to help many of Derby’s top businesses revitalise their printed materials and reach their goals.”

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday UK is returning to Derby this December, at the Market Hall.

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.

Yvonne Gorman, Owner of Bondholder Essential Print Services and Small Business Saturday UK Champion has co-hosted the event at Derby City Council House in previous years but for 2017, it’ll be held at the heart of small businesses; Derby’s historic Market Hall.

Yvonne said: “We are calling upon Marketing Derby’s Bondholders to show their support and visit the Market Hall, at some point during the day and help celebrate our small business community and this historic venue.

“It absolutely astounds me that by making a small change to our spending habits, together, we can make a big difference to a small, local business. I urge everyone to spend a bit of time and to spend a bit of money with the Derby Market Hall traders not just on Saturday 2nd December, but in the months and years to come.”

Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader of fellow Bondholder Derby City Council, said: "We’re delighted to once again promote the Small Business Saturday event.

"We have a thriving small business community and we’ve pledged to showcase the wide variety of support that’s available to local companies and entrepreneurs to help them create and grow sustainable enterprises.”

Small Business Saturday Flashmob

Yesterday saw a huge wave of small business owners swarm to The Strand Arcade in Derby for a flashmob in aid of gaining momentum leading up to Small Business Saturday on 3rd December 2016.

The national Small Business Saturday campaign celebrates the country's small businesses and showcases their importance in the national economy.

On Small Business Saturday in Derby — organised by Bondholder Essential Print Services' Yvonne Gorman and co-hosted by Bondholder Derby City Council — there will be a chance to hear from successful entrepreneurs and business owners in Derby, including a business support exhibition, workshops and networking opportunities with other small business owners.

Yvonne said: “The Flash Mob was phenomenal and a perfect way to launch. It was nerve-wracking to begin with - I worried that no one would show and then all of a sudden Sadler Gate came to life with a hive of conversation and small business owners armed with their company logos."

"The feedback I’ve had already is that a number of connections have already been made in a short space of time. That in itself is a result and makes all the effort in promoting the event worthwhile.”

“The Small Business Saturday UK team in London have already contacted me for an interview. They want my help to try and organise a series of Flash Mobs throughout the country. This sort of recognition is getting Derby on the map as a supporter of start-up companies and small businesses - awesome!"

Monday 7th November (10am - 1pm): The Small Business Saturday UK Bus Tour is coming to Derby for the first time! Come along to the Market Place and find out more about the campaign to support small businesses and meet the Small Business Saturday UK Team.

Essential Print's 'Awesome Foursome'

After celebrating five years in business, Bondholder Essential Print Services has appointed two new Print Angels and a Creative Artworker.

Lindsey Greasley and Katie Fitzpatrick join the company as Print Angels, whilst Lee Johnson is joining the team as the Creative Artworker.

Entrepreneur Yvonne Gorman started her business on 1st April 2011 and immediately signed up as a Marketing Derby Bondholder.

Yvonne commented: "I'm proud to be Derby born and bred so it was a no-brainer for me to want to shout about my city and get to know its local businesses and industries."

"We're like a print consultancy. We talk to businesses not only about printing but also about how they plan to distribute promotional items such as business cards, leaflets and brochures. Having hundreds left over in a cupboard doesn't help anyone."

"I love running a business in an incredible city. It's onwards and upwards for me, the team and for Derby", Yvonne concluded.

Yvonne named Inspirational Woman in Business 2016

Derby’s self-proclaimed Print Evangelist, Yvonne Gorman, has recently won the accolade of Inspirational Woman in Business 2016 – Derby & Derbyshire at an event to celebrate International Women’s Day, hosted by Vox Feminarum.

Yvonne started Bondholder company Essential Print Services in 2011 in a male-dominated industry, amidst a recession. Her mission; to raise the standards of printed literature for small businesses.

The company has since created jobs and supported a number of charities including the Maria Hanson Foundation where Yvonne is also a Trustee.

Known as Derby's 'networking queen', Yvonne is passionate about growing Derby's economy through collaborations and referrals. She helps to run three non-profit groups including PridePark.net, Derby Hub and Hallmark Business Group.

Derby born and bred, Yvonne is one of twenty Small Business Saturday UK Champions and was the driving force behind 2015's event at the Council House. This same initiative secured her an invitation to Downing Street in 2013 where she represented her city’s small business community.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have been recognised for the variety of work I do in the local business community. I never expected to ever win an award with the word, ‘inspirational’ in it – wow! If my work can inspire others along the way, it makes me more determined to continue with my plans.” commented Yvonne.

She added, "I'm feeling very proud to be a business woman in Derby. Never in a million years did I ever imagine running my own company, but since I took the plunge, also 5 years ago now, I've been able to achieve so much and there are tons of ideas I still want to fulfil. Having my own small business means I get the opportunity to meet and work with hundreds of awesome people. Its hard work but truly amazing."

Small but most definitely mighty

Saturday 5th Dcember saw an army of Small Business Supporters from across Derby and Derbyshire attend the eagerly anticipated Small Business Saturday celebration hosted at the Council House.

Adam Buss, CEO of Derby QUAD hosted the event and was joined by Dame Margaret Beckett MP and Deputy Leader of Derby City Council, Councillor Martin Rawson.

Showcasing their products and services, small businesses in the area - and indeed across the country - took centre stage to highlight the valued contribution that they each make to the local economy.

With an estimated 5 million businesses taking part across the country, local businessperson and owner of Bondholder Essential Print Services Yvonne Gorman was tasked with spreading the word. Yvonne was overwhelmed with the response of everyone involved and commented: "I was thrilled with the support in the run up to the event and the response on the day was overwhelmingly positive. I sincerely hope that all those who attended and exhibited will think differently about small businesses and continue to support them."

Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader at Derby City Council said: "Derby City Council are proud of the valuable contribution that small businesses make to our local economy and the offer of free parking was a show of support to local retailers as part of the Small Business Saturday celebration. The event was a great success that the Council were proud to host at the Council House."

Official statistics show that in the 24 hours following the event, an estimated £623 million was spent with small businesses across the UK. This number is a whopping increase of approximately £119 million on last year's total and an increase in spending of 24%.
