Popular Derby street food venue Bustler Market has moved to a brand-new site three times bigger than its previous location.

Following a three-month renovation project, it has taken over The Chocolate Factory, in Siddals Road.

The new location spans more 36,000 sq ft, with capacity to seat over 1,500 customers indoors, as well as a further 300 in the outdoor beer garden.

The beer garden will be open from 12 April for visitors to get their street food fix outdoors.

The venue will then fully reopen later this year when all national lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Since its launch in 2017, Bustler Market has amassed a huge following, attracting over 5,000 visitors each weekend.

The Chocolate Factory is the street food vendor’s second relocation in three years after it outgrew its previous site in John Street last year.

Once open, the new-look space will feature a selection of up to 12 independent street food traders from across the UK that will be rotated each weekend.

It will feature DJs and a range of craft beers, as well as new additions such as an arcade area, Portaloo photo booth, karaoke room and a gin and cocktail bar.

The space will also be available for hire for private functions, including weddings, corporate events and exhibitions.

Olivia Pritchard, Bustler’s managing director, said: “It goes without saying that 2020 was a particularly difficult year for the world of hospitality but it’s fantastic that we’re able to start the year with something really positive.

“It’s something we’ve been dreaming about for a while now, so when The Chocolate Factory became available, we just knew we had to go for it.

“As a Derby local myself, the city has always been really important to me and when we launched Bustler, we wanted to create something really special – something we could be really proud of.

“In the three years since we’ve launched, the support we’ve received has been astounding and this move is a testament to that.”

The venue currently employs 15 staff but has hopes to double that over the coming year.

Olivia said: “This move marks the start of a really exciting new era for us.

“The new space is just across the road from our old site but it allows us to do so much more.

“Not only does it mean we can welcome even more of our great customers and hire more staff but it also allows us to be even more creative with how we use the venue too.

“We have lots of great plans in the pipeline which we’ll announce over the coming months so definitely watch this space.”

In the meantime, from 5 March, Bustler Market will be operating a click and collect service.

This will be available on Fridays and Saturdays, from 4pm to 8pm.
