Burnthebook supports Book Festival

Bondholder and digital marketing agency Burnthebook is supporting this year's Derby Book Festival in many different ways.

Not only are they producing marketing collateral for the fifth Book Festival held in Derby they also provide production support as well as mentoring.

Last year Burnthebook produced one book called Small City Big Heart which was a celebration of the the Festival’s community programme which was a huge success.

The Festival sold the books by way of a mini pilot to see how they might be received and they sold out. All of the design and layout of the book was provided by Burnthebook for free as a contribution to the Festival and the City.

Following the success of last year's this year will see 3 books being produced, again with a design and layout contribution being offered as part of the organisation's ongoing CSR programme. The books are currently in production.

Phil Newson, Managing Director of Burnthebook gave a talk to Art and Design students at Derby University on how the books are produced and the design inspiration for last year’s book. Phil along with Burnthebook's Publishing Director Simon Duckworth was asked to help to judge an illustration competition for the festival. The winning illustration by Charlotte Bayliss of Derby University is featured on the front of this year's programme.

Phil is also mentoring a young designer who is working with the festival this year on a book featuring Broomfield College.

We have been supporting literature as part of our CSR for the past 10 years through our sponsorship of the Laura Wall range of children’s books 'Goose and Friends', so it seems only natural that we should also support this amazing Festival in our home city of Derby too."
