Bondholders showed their support for Derbyshire Constabulary when they joined forces with Normanton and Rosehill Safer Neighbourhood Teams to hold a children’s sports event in Derby’s Arboretum.
Last week, the policing teams came together with Business in the Community’s business connector, Bondholders Derby Community Trust, Derby College, East Midlands Airport and Rolls-Royce as well as PAK foods, Sainsbury’s and ASDA to hold a sports event for local school children.
The event, attended by Derby City Council’s Mayor, Mike Carr, was held with the aim of giving young people a positive experience with the police.
Sergeant Donna Abbott, who is in charge of the teams, said: “The area that the teams police in this part of Derby is very diverse.
“We are always looking for different ways of engaging with the different communities to give people the confidence to be able approach us when they need us. It is important that when they need our help people feel confident to come to us and events like this help to break down any barriers that may exist.
Sara Mitchell, Derby business connector at Business in the Community, added: “This is a brilliant example of organisations from different sectors in the local community achieving great things by working together.
“It is wonderful to see businesses, police, community organisations and the education sector collaborating to increase community cohesion. A fantastic example of what the responsible business model looks like in action.
