Director of Bondholder Hodgkinson Bricklaying Contractors, Ian Hodgkinson, celebrated his birthday by helping to raise awareness for Mental Health.
Hodgkinson wanted to share his birthday party with the local community and teamed up with Community Interest Group, Head High who are passionate about making a difference to people with mental health issues and their families.
Held at Bondholder YMCA Derbyshire on the last Friday of each month, the Community Meal aims to bring together people from all walks of life that have been affected by mental health using social interactions.
Instead of the usual birthday celebrations, Ian and the staff at Hodgkinson Builders donated their time to serve up food to the guests of the YMCA in Derby on that day.
Serving up local food, cakes and prizes, the party engaged the local community with a view to building positive relationships amongst residents.
Amanda said:“The aim of this event is to bring together people from all walks of life that have been effected by mental health using social interactions.
"I'm delighted that Ian chose to celebrate his birthday with us. It was such a fun afternoon with a lot of smiles and laughter to share."
Community building and communication positively combats loneliness, which is a major cause of mental health problems amongst adults - a leading factor in Ian's decision to support the event.
Ian said: "Hodgkinson Builders has been heavily involved with local community projects over the years, the main reason for this is that the community here in Derby has been very good to us indeed.
"We would not be where we are today if it wasn't for the support of the local people where our housing developments are located, and for that we are extremely grateful.”
