First competing at the grand age of fourteen at the Glasgow Games in 2014; swimmer Adam Peaty will be looking to add to his Olympic and National Championship medals by competing in the 50 and 100m breaststroke events.
Starting out his senior swimming career at the City of Derby Swimming Club (CDSC), he is now based at the National Centre in Loughborough and still works under former CDSC head coach Mel Marshall.
Peaty said “The Commonwealth Games will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first competition that launched my senior career. I built on that a few weeks after in the Europeans, when I got my first world record, which was a great stepping stone for the World Championships and then the Olympics."
Peaty is amongst four Bondholder Derbyshire Institute of Sport (DIS) supported swimmers looking to make history at the Games. Look out for Abbie Wood, Lewis White, Molly Renshaw and Sarah Vasey on our (DIS) Commonwealth Calendar.
