His Excellency Ambassador Liu Xiaoming, Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hosted a delegation from the Midlands Engine yesterday in London.
The session talked about the increased levels of trade and investment being planned between the two countries. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Midlands Engine and the Guizhou province.
The Midlands Engine delegation was lead by Chairman Sir John Peace and included Managing Director of Marketing Derby, John Forkin, in his capacity as Chair of the Midlands Engine Trade and investment China Group.
The Midlands Engine has recently agreed a three year strategy to support the growth of business engagement between the region and China, including a trade missions planned to Shanghai on 5th November 2018.
Commenting on the visit John Forkin said: "To be hosted by the Chinese Ambassador was a significant moment for the Midlands, which is taking an increasingly proactive role in seeking to identify and benefit from the trade and investment opportunities."
