Delegates at the Trade and Investment policy event heard from Ian Harrison, Director of Exports, Department for International Trade (DIT), for the Midlands.
Ian was encouraging businesses to take advantage of the support available from themselves and East Midlands Chamber of Commerce to continue to think globally and take a proactive approach to exporting.
DIT’s objectives are:
- To work to open markets,
- to unlock benefits for UK and global prosperity, stability and security.
- To strengthen the culture of international trade amongst UK businesses so that more take advantage of trade and international investment.
- To ensure the UK is recognised as the best place to invest, to attract investment which strengthens the economy and
- To contribute to Government’s agenda for a Global Britain, and its ambitions for prosperity, stability and security worldwide
The DIT also supports the development of the Midlands Engine which is a partnership between Government departments, local business and civic leaders to boost the Midlands economy.
