A new multi-million pound swimming pool in Derby has been granted planning permission, allowing plans to move forward.
The Moorways site complex is expected to open in 2020, with construction planned to begin later this year. Plans for the site include soft-play and multi-use rooms, gym, exercise studios, sauna & steam room, learner pool and a 50m ten lane pool.
Councillor Baggy Shanker, the Cabinet Member leading on the New Swimming Pool Complex, said:This state of the art facility will be a game changer for swimming in Derby. We have pledged to open this New Swimming Pool Complex to the public in 2020. Our investment in the City will ensure Derby continues to be a great place to live, work and visit."
Bondholder Derby City Council has set aside £33m for the project as it is one of their 50 pledges.
