Bondholder Rolls-Royce has revealed plans to construct an indoor aero engine testing facility at its Derby headquarters.
The aerospace giant will transfer 20 employees from other departments to the new facility.
A planning statement said: "The current large civil aero engine test facility capacity and capability fails to meet the current and future requirements of the Rolls-Royce Aerospace business when faced with an increasing test demand and development of future engines.
"The new test facility shall add capability and capacity to the wider Rolls-Royce test network and will not replace existing facilities.
"Locating engine test facilities at the Rolls-Royce Sinfin site forms part of the long term strategy for ongoing works to develop the wider Derby Aerospace Campus."
