Food and Drink Finalists Revealed

With over 5,200 nominations received from the public, Marketing Derby is pleased to announce the finalists of the ninth annual Derby Food and Drink Awards.

The shortlist is based on the quality and quantity of the nominations, as well as the hygiene ratings and TripAdvisor reports. Each establishment will be visited by mystery judges, who will critique them on food, drinks, overall atmosphere and customer service.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony, to be held at The Roundhouse on Monday 9th October.

On the night, Marketing Derby will also present the Royal Crown Derby Outstanding Achievement award to a person that has made an significant contribution to Derby's food and drink scene.

John Forkin, Managing Director of Marketing Derby, said: “Every year the number of nominations increases, and this year was our most difficult task, in whittling down from over 5,200 nominations into a shortlist. This year’s finalists reflect the diversity and quality of Derby’s food and drink scene.

“The judges will have a difficult, albeit enjoyable, time picking a winner. We have asked them to take a rounded view, looking for excellence in customer service, with knowledgeable staff who seems to care, appropriate ambience, as well as, of course, an excellent food and drink offer.”

As a leading Derby employer Irongate is always keen to support local Derby businesses because a great deal of them are very important clients of ours, and our passion and love for the city of Derby goes without saying.

During the last 40 years that Irongate has been in business the transformation of Derby has been incredible, and part of that transformation has been the social scene which is what the awards are recognising. Derby has an outstanding range of bars, restaurants and clubs, and we at Irongate are very keen to see this area develop and for Derby as a city to thrive.

We are delighted to support the awards and I’m sure what will be a great night.
