The Derby Property Summit is returning to Bondholder Pride Park Stadium next week.
The Summit is the largest commercial property event in the region, bringing together the individual strands of regeneration, property and development with insights from key industry speakers and city leaders.
Last year’s event proved to be a huge success, with over 360 delegates from the regeneration, property and developer communities in attendance, and provided a number of leads and enquiries for the city of Derby.
This year’s Summit will focus on the theme Shaping the Post-Brexit City.
Brexit has thrown up a number of unknown challenges, but customers are still demanding vibrant cities with flexible, quality spaces that mix living, working and playing. The Summit will focus on how we can meet these challenges, with two heavyweights from the property world. It will be hosted by broadcast journalist Declan Curry, and will include presentations from:
- John Forkin - Managing Director of Marketing Derby;
- Greg Jennings - Director of Regeneration, Property & Housing at Bondholder Derby City Council;
- Melanie Leech - Chief Executive of the British Property Federation;
- Yolande Barnes - Director of World Research at Savills.
The event will also include a panel question and answer session on the topic of ‘Regeneration in the Regions’.
Speakers for the panel include:
- Russell Davies - Partner, Smith Partnership;
- Ed Ellerington - National Acquisition Director, Grainger plc;
- Nigel Lax - Head of Asset Management, iSec Group;
- Martin Rawson - Deputy Leader Derby City Council.
John Forkin, Managing Director of Marketing Derby, said: “Each year the Summit puts Derby at the centre of the property community, with a mixture of top quality presentations and discussion. We now attract over 360 professionals from key sectors, which gives us an opportunity to showcase the city’s future investment opportunities.
“The event has become a key date in the property and investor calendar, attracting visitors from around the globe. This year we even have developers from the Netherlands in attendance.
“This year the Summit will include a mixture of presentations from two of the leading industry experts, who will give insight into how cities can meet new challenges in an unknown landscape.
"Melanie has held senior positions in government, including director of communications at the Cabinet Office and head of broadcasting policy at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. She has also served for three years as CEO of the Association of Police Authorities.
“As the Chief Executive of the British Property Federation, Melanie brings a wealth of policy-making experience, and represents an industry that is critical in shaping a post-Brexit city.
“Yolande is internationally renowned for her insights into the property sector. She is able to bring a global perspective to the Derby Property Summit, and identify the key drivers a city need to build upon to appeal to its consumers.
“To have two heavyweights of the property world sharing their insights is a testament to the draw of the Summit.”
