Bondholder Sinfonia Viva's Derbyshire Carers Choir has won funding from the People's Postcode Lottery.
Sing Viva is a unique project that enables carers that enjoy singing the chance to socialise creativly with people facing similar challenges and pressures.
Sing Viva was established earlier this year with funds from Bupa UK Foundation and the Concertina Fund. The £14,460 package of support from the People’s Postcode Lottery has
secured the choir’s future for another year. The choir plans to expand to other areas in Derbyshire and beyond.
Sinfonia Viva Education Manager Marianne Barraclough said: “We are delighted that Sing Viva has won further recognition with this funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
“There are a significant number of people locally who are carers for family members from children with special needs to elderly parents and many more who are furthermore juggling work and caring responsibilities.
“There is widespread recognition that, as well as practical support, carers can feel socially isolated. They greatly benefit from the opportunity to take a well-deserved break and enjoy a group activity."
The choir now has around 30 regular members, who since their formation earlier in the year, have performed at some prestigious events, including The Hannells Darley Park Concert.
