Plans for a new £33 million leisure complex, which include a 50-metre pool, have been submitted by Derby City Council.
The complex is set to be open by 2020 and will include a 10-lane pool capable of staging regional competitions, as well as a teaching pool and a water play area.
It will also house a café, soft play area, treatment rooms, and a gym with up to 150 stations.
The application says: "Derby City Council have identified the need to replace the current swimming pool and sports facility on the Moorways site with a new facility which provides a more diverse range of functions addressing the public’s needs.
“The new facility will comprise a range of wet and dry leisure activities. The design of the new pool will respond to Derby’s industrial history and seek to relate to its context through its appearance and function, effectively serving as the gateway to the adjacent Rolls-Royce complex.”
Demolition of the existing facility is underway with work on the new building set to start early next year.
