Extension for Pride Park Stadium

Bondholders Derby County Football Club and Matthew Montague Architects have unveiled plans to extend Pride Park Stadium, in a move that would create new bars, restaurants and a fan zone.

The extension to the East Stand would redevelop an area that is currently used as a car park and walkway, and could create up to 46 jobs.

A spokesperson for the project said: “As part of continuing re-investment in the Derby County Football Club, the current owner has asked that we consider improving the match-day experience for the fans who currently utilise the East, South and North Stands of the stadium. At present only fans with tickets for that particular turnstile may enter, where separately each person is thrust into a cold and unwelcoming space below the concrete raked seating, this traditional concourse is an unappetizing environment.”

“The proposal is to give fans an opportunity to arrive early at the ground, walk into a warm and comfortable atmosphere suitable for families, groups and all ages.

“The venue will offer a variety of food and drink in a well-lit and spacious setting with large screens showing match build-up and other events, it will create a vibrant destination for friends to meet no matter where they are seated, for elderly to relax or parents to wait for their
children.”
