Bondholder University of Derby has continued to develop its links into China with a visit this week by Prof Lu Liu to both Hefei and Anhui Universities.
Last month, the University of Derby signed a Collaboration Agreement with Hefei University which will lead to joint promotion of post-graduate programmes and visiting lecturers. Anhui University have also expressed interest in sending undergraduate students for short-term study at the University of Derby.
The growing relationship between Derby and Hefei follows a visit made to China earlier this year by Derby City Council Leader Ranjit Banwait and Chief Executive Paul Robinson. This has resulted in an official Memorandum of Understanding being signed between the two cities committing to future co-operation on trade and investment.
A Midlands Engine Trade Mission to China is being planned for this autumn, supported by UKTI and led by a government minister.
This will include trade opportunities for local businesses, plus promotion of key investment opportunities at a China Britain Business Council Outbound investor event to be held in Shanghai.
