One of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancies and Marketing Derby Bondholder, Idom Merebrook, has reported a phenomenal 100% growth in its housing division since 2010.
Projects undertaken with housing developers now account for approximately 47% of the consultancy's total turnover. Idom's housing turnover has risen to £2.57m from £1.35m since 2010 and is forecast to increase further this year.
The real growth has not come from winning contracts with new clients, but from working more closely and doing more for its existing housing client base. In addition, Idom has been awarded an increasing number of regeneration projects to help redevelop brownfield sites for housing, an area in which the consultancy specialises.
Nigel Huish, Managing Director of Idom Merebrook, commented: "The statistics show two things; firstly as a consultancy we are comfortably in line with the steady growth being experienced by the industry as a whole. Additionally, while we are steadily expanding our client portfolio ,our main area of growth has come through providing a wider range of services to our existing and longer-standing clients on bigger projects."
Bringing brownfield sites back to use is a key part of the government's strategy to promote sustainable development, the UK has over 400,000 hectares of contaminated land much of it a legacy from the industrial revolution and the clean-up of this land has been made a priority.
