Toyota speeds past rivals for global crown

Global car manufacturer and Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) has fought off what was nearly a close call with Volkswagen to remain the world's top-selling car-maker for the fourth consecutive year.

Selling 10.15million vehicles worldwide in 2015, Toyota beat Volkswagen who sold 9.93 million after sales slowed following the company's emissions scandal.

Industry experts predict that Volkswagen's sales will continue to fall behind for the foreseeable future, which means Toyota is likely to remain on top.

At Toyota's plant in Burnaston, both the Auris and Avensis models are manufactured. Despite having brand new designs, the plant managed to produce 10.4% more units than the year before.
