Major Reception Held in China

The Derbyshire delegation in China took part in a major reception today, hosted by the Governor of Anhui Province. At the event, 20 members of the Derbyshire delegation met with 30 representatives of the Provincial Government, which controls an area with a population in excess of 70 million.

This is a first toe in the water of something that could be enormous. We have started in the right place with the right people
— David Williams, Chairman of Geldards and Derby Renaissance Board

The event follows a number of successful Embassy receptions held by Derby over the last ten years in Birmingham, London and Cannes, which have proven essential in creating interest in investment prospects.

Today we have taken a major step forward by bringing such a strong public-private delegation to develop our partnership with Hefei. Our commitment has impressed them and I’m confident this will result in jobs and investment into Derby.
— Ranjit Banwait, Leader of Derby City Council

A brochure was prepared for the event, and a special film introducing the investment opportunities to the Chinese market.
