Derby Signs Memorandum of Understanding

As part of the Midlands Engine trade mission to China, the leader of Bondholder Derby City Council, Ranjit Banwait, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hefei, committing to future co-operation on trade and investment.

Ranjit Banwait said: “As part of the visit, I will be signing a memorandum of understanding with my Chinese counterparts that will promote economic cooperation, trade and investment. Thanks to the support of the Foreign Office and the British Consulate, the historic agreement will cement our relationship with Hefei after Chinese delegates first visited Derby in October 2015.”
"I am excited by the opportunities that lie ahead for our two cities, which will be stronger following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding.  It will open doors to joint business ventures, inward investment, opportunities for universities, cultural and tourism programmes, sharing knowledge and also creating lasting friendships.”

Both of our cities are full of passionate people, willing to share knowledge and drive forward the possibilities this partnership brings.
