It's almost here…Derby Festé 2015!

It looks like the weather is going to hold out for this year's Derby Festé which takes place this Friday and Saturday across the city.

Never before seen in the UK, the headline act for this year is the stunning drum and firework show, Danbor Talka: The Clash of The Drums, a Deabru Beltzak and Les Commandos Percu creation.

After many years spent travelling the world with their amazing shows, and currently performing in Denmark, Les Commandos Percu combine their talents and know-how with a clear objective: to reclaim the streets… so the thousands of people who attend Derby Festé each year are in for a real treat for 2015.

Out of nowhere, drummers march towards each other pounding stretched skins. Street to street, their drumsticks twirl, their colourful faces sizing each other up for a confrontation of rhythm and light. What will be the outcome of the clash? The sole purpose of this symbolic confrontation is to turn collision into interaction, to sublimate fury into language, to light the unifying fire that brings hearts together.

The heart-stopping culmination to this not-to-be-missed show will see a wild parade through the crowds by blazing musicians who will climb onto the stage for a clash of drums. They will light a huge fire that seems to burst from their instruments, as if every percussion note sparks an explosion in the starry sky. But this is just a transition point.

After their on-stage performance, the black and yellow devils will again take to the street and disappear into the night just as they came: surrounded by fire.

Derby City Centre will once again transform, for a ninth year, into a world-class festival site and, through a multitude of exciting outdoor performance areas, act as the perfect platform to play host to Derby Festé 2015, the ever-popular post-summer annual extravaganza of city-wide live performances and breath-taking acts.

Derby Festé 2015 will take place throughout the city centre on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September and will be produced and presented by Déda, Derby LIVE, Derby Theatre and QUAD in association with the Without Walls Associate Touring Network.

Since this annual cultural highlight started in 2007, Derby Festé has established itself as one of the best UK street- arts festivals and has attracted some of the highest quality acts, from across the UK and abroad, to the city’s streets.
