New Appeal Director at Derby Hospitals

Bondholder the Derby Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust has appointed Michael Bolton as the new Appeal Director of the Derby Hospitals Charity.

Michael has already taken up the role, a new position for the Charity that has been agreed as a first step towards launching an appeal to raise £3.5m. Named the ‘DART’ appeal, it will generate funds for a new fourth linear accelerator in the Radiotherapy Department.

The new machine will mean that fewer patients will need to travel out of the area for treatment and it will reinforce the Hospitals position as the leading Radio Therapy centre in the East Midlands. Over 1600 patients were treated in 2015-16 and the new machine will allow for even more patients to be treated more successfully in the future.

Speaking about his appointment Michael said “I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity. The Derby Hospitals Charity has raised millions of pounds over the years providing equipment and facilities. This great work has been carried out quietly and without fuss.

The new appeal aims to boost awareness of the growing treatment demands in Derbyshire and gives potential donors a chance to make a real difference in their own back yard.”

We are extremely pleased to have recruited Michael as our first Appeal Director. I am sure he will become an important part of our team and reinforce our mission to always put the patient first.
