Derby's Cricket World Cup Celebration

On Friday 23rd June, Bondholder Derby City Council is hosting an event to celebrate the start of the ICC Women’s World Cup in Derby.

The event will include a Q&A session quizzing cricket star and former captain of the England women's team, Charlotte Edwards, on her thoughts on this year’s Women’s World Cup.

Throughout the day there will more interviews with local cricket personalities, spot prizes and live entertainment. Mascots Freddie the Falcon and the DCC Star will also be on hand for pictures and selfies.

From 5:15pm a whole host of musical treats to suit all tastes will have been lined up to take the event from day to night, including steel band Pantas, bhangra group Dhol Drum, Urb’ and Kaleidoscope community choirs, indie reggae band Stuck in a Second, rock bhangra group Kismet, local indie folk band Herron Brothers and cover band UB42. 

This summer Bondholder Derbyshire County Cricket Club will host eight fixtures, including a semi-final, and has been selected as a TV broadcast venue at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.
