New appointments at Derby law firms

Three appointments have been made between Derby law firms and Bondholders Geldards and Flint Bishop in the last month.

Ben Lawson was snapped up by Geldards' Derby office as an associate solicitor in the firm's family law team and brings with him specialism in the resolution of financial matters for medium to high net worth individuals. Fiona Apthorpe, Family Law Partner and Head of Geldards' family team, said: "The family law market remains increasingly competitive and our clients expect a comprehensive level of service. Adding Ben's experience considerably boosts the strength of our team and enables the firm to continue to deliver innovative and cost-effective legal solutions to our wide range of clients."

Flint Bishop has also made two appointments. Martyn Brierley is now Parter and Head of Corporate. He has worked on some of the largest corporate deals in the region and boasts a strong reputation within corporate law. Martyn is a sought-after solicitor who can advise on mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, finance transactions and more.

Lucy Carter also joins the partnership as one of only a handful of Notaries Public in Derbyshire. Flint Bishop is now able to offer support for authenticating and certifying signatures for documents abroad, such as overseas powers of attorney, purchase or sale and land and property, to name a few.

Andrew Cochrane, Senior Partner at Flint Bishop, said: "I have great delight in welcoming two new additions to the partnership at Flint Bishop. Martyn has been with the business for many years and is an outstanding Corporate Lawyer. He is leading a strong team and I have no doubt he will continue to build on the success of the department over the coming years."

"Lucy Carter is a new hire to Flint Bishop, a fantastic addition to our Commercial Property department. Lucy is one of only a few Notaries Public throughout the region and this service offering will enable overseas transactions to occur, with Lucy's support."
