A four-part series surrounding the Royal Derby Hospital and its real behind-the-scenes stories is due to air in the primetime slot on ITV1 next week.

Chosen from a shortlist of 20 modern hospitals across the country, the Royal Derby Hospital was selected for its warmth and openness.  The series was created by television production company, The Garden, which was responsible for award-winning shows Bedlam and 24 Hours in A&E.

“We wanted to find a big new hospital, outside of London and it seemed that there were quite a few around the country”
— Lucy Bowden, Executive Producer at The Garden

Ahead of filming, the hospital was visited over a number of months by researchers to meet hundreds of staff to determine where the focus should be. As it would be impossible to feature every part of the hospital, specific areas have been focused on to give a “top-to-bottom” perspective.

Shot both day and night, four teams were sent in to carry out the filming which will give each episode a fresh feel and different approach.
