Bondholder University of Derby beat its own record for busiest open day on Saturday 26th September with over 4,500 people touring its sites throughout the day, including the newly-acquired One Friar Gate Square building.

This was the first in a series of 'new look' open days which showcase the work of inspiring Derby alumni including Bondholder Paul Cummins, who created 888,246 ceramic poppies to commemorate 100 years since World War One at the Tower of London earlier this year.

Alumni also included Rob Garner, who played a pivotal role in the visual effects in blockbuster movie, Gravity, and Sam Johnson who landed his dream job at Lego.

“Saturday marked my first open day since joining the University of Derby earlier this month, and it’s been a privilege to meet with so many prospective students and their parents. We have had a record number of visitors and I am really pleased to see the increased interest”
— Kathryn Mitchell, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Derby
