A series of events have taken place at MIPIM UK, the UK’s largest exhibition and conference for property professionals, aimed at showcasing the East Midlands as a major player on the devolution agenda. The “Power of 3” strategy sees Derby, Leicester and Nottingham come together with Bondholder East Midlands Airport to promote one of the strongest growth regions in the UK economy. The East Midlands is expected to continue outperforming the UK average for GVA performance, with all three cities in the Top 20 in the UK for GVA per head.

The first event took place in the Business Showcase this morning. A panel discussion was hosted by John Forkin, MD of Marketing Derby and included:

  • Liz Fothergill – President, East Midlands Chamber
  • David Williams – Chair, Geldards LLP
  • Adam Challis – Head of UK Residential Research, JLL
  • Paul Robinson – Chief Executive, Derby City Council
  • This discussion was followed by a second panel focused on investment in the East Midlands.
