Westfield Derby Celebrate 100 Million Shoppers

Marketing Derby Bondholder Westfield Derby, has celebrated its 100 millionth customer by giving the lucky shopper a big surprise.

Winner Kate Hollands, 31, was showered with confetti, given a special Bollywood dance routine by Derby group Javvani and treated to a £250 Westfield gift card as well as a personal shopper and makeover.

Ms Hollands said: "I'm very shocked and surprised. I visit the Westfield centre every week. I have a 13-year-old so I'm always coming here to do my shopping!”

Westfield bosses used a detailed footfall system, which monitored customers arriving hourly through the centre's ten different entrances, to determine their 100 millionth customer.

Janine Bone, Centre Manager, said the aim was to give their 100 millionth customer 15 minutes of fame, "We decided to surprise the lucky winning shopper with an unforgettable experience.”

She added, "It's fantastic that almost exactly four years ago the centre opened and it has since brought in around 25 million customers per year."

Since opening, Westfield Derby has been hailed as the best out of 28 shopping destinations in the region, as well as being ranked 11th best in a nationwide survey by ‘Going Shopping 2011’.

City Celebrates Memorable Weekend

Derby had a weekend to remember as the annual Derby Festé took over the city centre in the form of flying fish and inflatable lobsters! 

Performances from Sarruga, Walk the Plank and Masion Foo wowed the 25,000-plus audience the Festé managed to attract.

Billie Klinger from Festé producers Walk the Plank said, “We wanted to make it the best Festé ever. We want the people of Derby to stand up and say ‘Yes, we want Festé’. We want them to be proud of it and to embrace it.”

The Festé ended on Saturday night with fireworks on Cathedral Green before déda, Derby’s dance centre, taught hundreds of people Salsa on the Market Place.

The Derby Festé was not the only big event happening in the city. The Archbishop of Canterbury visited Derby over the weekend taking in visits to Marketing Derby Bondholders, University of Derby and Derby Cathedral, in which he took the service on Sunday.

Dr Rowan Williams also used the visit to call on the government to “rethink” the decision not to award the Derby-based train maker and Marketing Derby Bondholder, Bombardier, the Thameslink Contract.

Rolls-Royce Hail New Era in Air Transportation

Marketing Derby Bondholder Rolls-Royce, has welcomed the delivery today of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to customer All Nippon Airways as the beginning of a new era in air transportation.

The aircraft, which will enter into revenue passenger service next month, is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.

Mark King, Rolls-Royce President of Civil Aerospace said, “We are very proud to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, an aircraft that represents a quantum leap in technology over the generation of airliners it will replace.”

Rolls-Royce has also announced they have won an order from China Eastern Airlines including a long-term engine maintenance scheme, valued at $400million.

To fulfil their £60bn order book, Rolls-Royce has also submitted plans to double a previous expansion site at their base in Derby. The 30,000 sq. ft. extension is being built to allow more space to meet demand for their Trent Engine Series.

Bondholders Succeed in National Awards

Marketing Derby Bondholder East Midlands Airport has retained its title as the ‘Best Regional Airport’ for the fifth consecutive year.

The Airport beat off competition from Bristol, Liverpool, Luton and Southampton to win the award at the Travel Bulletin 2011 Star Awards.

Brad Miller, Managing Director at East Midlands Airport said, “To be awarded a Star Award is one of the highest achievements in the travel industry, as they are voted for and judged by experienced professionals in the travel industry.”

Marketing Derby Bondholder Oviso Financial Services, could also be in with the chance of winning a national awards, after reaching the finals of this year’s Health Insurance Awards 2011. Shortlisted for ‘Best Protection Insurance Intermediary’, Oviso will go up against three other finalists before the winner will be announced on 20th October.

Sarah Fullaway, Director at Oviso said, “To be recognised by the Health Insurance Awards…is a massive achievement and reflects our growing reputation within the industry.”

Bondholders Celebrate Anniversaries in Industry

Marketing Derby Bondholders Smith of Derby and Denby Pottery, are celebrating seperate anniversaries this month after reaching milestones in their industries.

Smith of Derby have created 40 clocks, which will be unveiled in Dubai in October, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of United Arab Emirates existence and 40 years company has been working in the region.

Bob Betts, Managing Director at Smith of Derby said, “It seemed the perfect idea to combine the two anniversaries together. The clock marries the latest technology with 300 year-old techniques and is a great opportunity to own a high-end clock that commemorates a very special occasion.”

Denby Pottery welcomed HRH The Princess Royal to commemorate 200 years of pottery production at the original Denby site. HRH The Princess Royal toured Derbyshire’s largest pottery before wishing the company well for the next 200 years.
