Bondholders Trio Win Awards

Three Marketing Derby Bondholders have received top regional and national awards after their efforts for this year.

The University of Derby won two gongs at the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards, picking up 'Outstanding Employer Engagement' and 'Outstanding Contribution To The Local Economy'.

Professor John Coyne, Vice-Chancellor said, "It is always pleasing to see the University recognised at such a high level for the excellent work that my colleagues produce. These are major awards and to win in two different areas is very special."

In other news, Katapult recieved the bronze award in the Digital category at the Cream Midlands Awards last week.

They scooped the prize after their work on FORMAT International Photography Festival, which included the Mob FORMAT, a online image application that integrates users images of Derby into a web gallery.

In four weeks the site received 10,000 submissions which was a 400% increase on 2009. This has helped recognise FORMAT as 'a festival of global significance' by the Arts Council.

Finally, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce celebrated a double national award at the British Chamber of Commerce's annual awards 2011.

The Chamber won 'Excellence in Membership Services' and the prestigious 'Chamber of the Year Award'. Commenting on the success, George Cowcher, Chief Executive of DNCC said, "The Chamber is delighted to have won these two prestigious awards. 2010/2011 has been the Chamber's best year ever and these awards are just the icing on the cake."

City Council to Offer Business Support

Marketing Derby Bondholder Derby City Council is launching a new information service for businesses, signposting them to events, networks, finance and support programmes.

From the end of November, Business Link services will only be available online and the Council wants to ensure that businesses are proactively kept informed about support they may be able to access.

Two email newsletters, one targeted at all businesses in the city and the second at those businesses with potential for high growth, will be despatched in late 2011.

Leader of Derby City Council Philip Hickson said, "This is a time of significant change for businesses. We want to ensure that all Derby businesses are kept informed of help that is available, now and in the future."

"I'd encourage all Derby businesses to sign up to this free service, to be the first to hear about support and opportunities as they are announced."

Smith Restores Swiss Attraction

Marketing Derby Bondholder Smith of Derby has helped bring a famous Swiss landmark back to London's Leicester Sqaure.

The Swiss Glockenspiel has returned to the captial for the first time since being removed when the Swiss Centre was demolsihed in 2008, to be replaced by the first 'W' Hotel. The redesigned clock, featuring 27 bells and 11 moving Swiss figures, was rebuilt by Smith of Derby in collaboration with Swiss artists.

Jim Foster, Sales Director at Smith of Derby said, "We faced a series of challenges to ensure the glockenspiel met a number of requirements relating to the design, fabrication and installation."

"We are delighted with the result and hope that the glockenspiel can once again become a great attraction in the area."

Bondholders Support 'Movember'

Marketing Derby Bondholders Cactus Images, Revolver Revolver and Moggs Marketing Communications have joined together to take part in the charity event 'Movember' in support of male cancer charities.

The charity event that has lasted all of November, required people to grow facial hair to enhance awareness of health amongst men. As well as the male colleagues of the Bondholders joining in, the female colleagues have also taken part to raise money for charity.

Fellow Marketing Derby Bondholder Innes England have also joined in on the Movember charity campaign.
