Embassy Events

Embassy events are carefully targeted, attracting potential investors, media and influencers supported by a dedicated group of Derby Ambassadors.  They are primarily held in London, though over the past year, locations have included Cannes and Nottingham.  Their purpose is simple, to get Derby on the investment radar.

Investment Embassy, The Ritz

The Ritz

This Embassy was held at the world famous Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly when a key group of Derby Ambassadors targeted London investors in an exclusive opportunity to learn about Derby's future developments plans and to hear details of major investment and end user opportunities.  The event was full and has led to subsequent one to one follow ups with contacts made on the evening.

Showcase Embassy, Citi group Centre, Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf

The venue for the Showcase Derby Embassy event in London was the stunning 36th floor of the UK HQ for Citigroup in Canary Wharf, the parent company of Pride Park-based internet bank Egg.  The event brought together London-based investors and developers with Derby and London-based Ambassadors.  Speakers included Derby City Council Leader, Cllr Hilary Jones, who announced a major £300,000 Invest in Derby strategy and Citi Head of UK Consumer, Bert Pijls, who reiterated Citi's commitment to derby and possibly include greater technology based activity in the future.

Investment Embassy, Cannes

Cannes

MIPIM is the market for international property trade and takes place annually in Cannes.  Marketing Derby attended as part of the Derby delegation and hosted a packed Derby Embassy event.  This was a great opportunity for Derby to spread its message to international business people and investors.

Investment Embassy, Nottingham

Roger Poole

The Derby Embassy staged a reception for the first time in Nottingham to promote the city's aspirations to regional organisations.  The event was hosted at the offices of leading law firm Freeth Cartwright and endorsements for Derby were received from regional leaders, including Jeff Moore, Chief Executive of East Midlands Development Agency, and Roger Poole, Director of Regional Strategy for the Government Office for the East Midlands as well as James Blick, Managing Director of the Finesse hotel group operating successful boutique hotels in Derby and Nottingham.
