Introduction

Map of UK

Derby is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a fantastic heritage, including a World Heritage Site in the city centre, and an exciting future.  Experience cutting edge culture, shopping and entertainment, all in the heart of a compact city where history combines with a very modern atmosphere.

Derby is the country's most central city with 80% of the population within 2 hours and 6 million people living within 1 hour.  This gives a massive pool from which to draw talent and customers.  Within an hours drive are cities such as Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry, Sheffield, Leicester, Wolverhampton and Stoke.

Derby's rail, road and air connections are excellent - the M1, M6, M42, A38 and A50 are all within minutes of the city.  Fast direct inter-city trains run from all major cities including London (St Pancras International operated by East Midlands Trains), Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Oxford, Cardiff and Southampton.  In addition, Paris, Brussels and the wider European rail service is now only a simple change of platform via Eurostar at St Pancras International (1 hour 33 minutes from Derby).

Derby is situated in incredibly attractive countryside including the iconic Peak District (the world's first national park) and the new and growing National Forest.

Derby city centre is only 15 minutes from rural hinterland and pleasant commuter villages as is often referred to as "the 15 minute city."
